What you need
- A B.Sc. Nursing or GNM qualification
- Registration with your State Nursing Council
- Work experience as a nurse is an advantage
- Willingness to learn German up to level B2
- A valid passport
Legal route to Germany
Your nursing degree is compared with German nurse training by the responsible state authority. Usually you complete an adaptation course or a knowledge test in Germany, and then you receive your licence to work as a registered nurse.
Through a recognition partnership (§ 16d (3) of the German Residence Act) you can come to Germany before your recognition is finished. You need at least A2 German and a job contract with an employer who supports your recognition. For the full licence, B2 German is normally required.
