What you need
- A Diploma in Nursing or a B.Sc. Nursing
- Registration with the Sri Lanka Nursing Council
- Work experience as a nurse is an advantage
- Willingness to learn German up to level B2
- A valid passport
Legal route to Germany
The responsible German state authority compares your training with German nurse training. You then complete an adaptation course or a knowledge test and receive your licence as a registered nurse.
Through a recognition partnership (§ 16d (3) of the German Residence Act) you can start working in Germany before recognition is complete, with at least A2 German and a job contract. For the full licence, B2 German is normally required.
